Blue Man Group recently performed a chaotic rendition of My Chemical Romance‘s ‘Welcome to the Black Parade’. Check it out below.

The attempt took place as the mysterious group appeared on the latest episode of Drumeo’s ongoing For The First Time series – which sees famous faces come into the studio and attempt to immediately play a song on drums as they hear it for the first time.

Previous episodes have seen Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith drum along to Bring Me The Horizon’s ‘Can You Feel My Heart’ and Thirty Seconds To Mars‘ ‘The Kill’. The show has also had Megadeth’s drummer taking on The Killers’ ‘Mr. Brightside’ and musical prodigy Nandi Bushell drumming to Twisted Sister’s ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’, without having ever heard the song before.

The Blue Man Group, which has existed in various forms for 35 years, headed to New York City to take on the challenge alongside their musical director Josh Matthews. While Matthews made notes upon the first listen, the Blue Men engaged in a theatrical performance.

When it was time to play the song, the group used an unconventional array of objects as percussion, including PVC tubes and barrel drums, while Matthews played a traditional drum kit.

Elsewhere, My Chemical Romance quashed hopes of a reunion earlier this year after a series of strange posts emerged on their Facebook. Scepticism grew when the band proceeded to post a number of bizarre posts, leading fans to question if there was a legitimate reunion on the horizon or if they were hacked.

Writing on Instagram, they said: “Our Facebook got hacked,” warning fans: “Don’t believe everything you read!”

The emo icons wrapped up their lengthy reunion tour in March this year. Their first show back together took place in December 2019, and their COVID-delayed world tour began with two shows at The Eden Project in Cornwall last summer.

The band’s most recent material was 2022’s ‘The Foundations of Decay’ – a surprise single that marked their first new release in eight years, with their last full-length album being 2010’s ‘Danger Days’.
