Lucy Dacus

Lucy Dacus has performed a Tiny Desk (Home) Concert from her old high school in Richmond, Virginia.

The indie-rock artist and her band returned to her alma mater for the special edition for NPRā€™s long-running series.

Performing from the classrooms of Maggie Walker High School, Dacus shared renditions of four songs from her latest album ā€˜Home Videoā€™, which was released last month.

The setlist included ā€˜Brandoā€™, ā€˜VBSā€™, ā€˜Going Going Goneā€™ and ā€˜Thumbsā€™. The latter performance was the first time Dacus has performed the song on camera. ā€œIt might be tough to hear ā€“ thatā€™s just a warning,ā€ she told viewers beforehand. ā€œIf you donā€™t want to listen to it, just turn this video off!ā€

In a four-star review of Dacusā€™ third album, NME said: ā€œā€˜Home Videoā€™ is full of the Matador artistā€™s typical subtle humour and gorgeously evocative poetry [ā€¦] Dacus proves that looking back at your past might make you cringe, but there is beauty and value in those faltering, gawky days.ā€

The star will bring the record to the stages of the UK and Ireland next year. The tour will begin at Leedsā€™ Brudenell Social Club on March 18, and continue on to stops in Glasgow, Dublin, Manchester and Bristol. It will conclude with a gig at Londonā€™s Kentish Town Forum on March 25.

Meanwhile, Dacus shared a cover of Snow Patrolā€™s 2006 single ā€˜Chasing Carsā€™ last month, reimagining the track with spectral synths and atmospherics.
