Megan Thee Stallion brought out Japanese rapper Yuki Chiba to perform their collaborative viral song ‘Mamushi’ in London last night (July 17). See the footage below.

The rapper took over The O2 for the final stop of her highly-anticipated ‘Hot Girl Summer’ world tour. She performed a string of her most notable hits from all three of her studio albums: her 2020 debut ‘Good News’, the 2022 follow-up ‘Traumazine’, and her most recent release ‘Megan’.

Before performing the popular TikTok sound, Megan teased the crowd, saying: “We about to do something real cute for the last ‘Hot Girl Summer’ arena tour show. We ain’t did this shit the whole tour. Y’all ain’t seen this yet. We got a real special treat for London tonight.”

While the intro of ‘Mamushi’ played, she told the crowd to “make some motherfucking noise” for Yuki Chiba, who had come “all the way from Japan” to perform the song for the first time with the Houston star. Watch the moment below.

NME said in a five-star review of Megan’s ‘Hot Girl Summer’ London show that the team-up was “a highlight of the night”.

‘Mamushi’ is featured on Thee Stallion’s ‘Megan’ album, which was released last month. In a four-star review of the LP, NME said the song sees “the vocal anime enthusiast flies her freak flag high”. The review also mentioned that while the track is “not as effortless” as ‘Otaku Hot Girl’ – the other Japanese-inspired song on the record – it “is a change of pace for Megan, who over an icy, skeletal beat follows the swaggering lead of Yuki Chiba”.

The song has since entered the top 50 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking Chiba’s first-ever entry on the chart. It also topped the World Digital Song Sales chart – which was a first for both artists. It became popular after Megan started a dance trend for it and the sound now has over 157,000 videos made to it.

Megan recently announced on an Instagram Live broadcast that she will be “going to Japan to shoot the music video”.

Chiba – formerly known as KOHH – initially rose to fame in 2014 after releasing his second studio album ‘MONOCHROME’ after its lead track ‘I Don’t Mind If I’m Poor’ was popular on YouTube. In 2016, he worked with Frank Ocean and his feature on ‘Nikes’ appeared on the physical album version of the LA singer’s second studio album, ‘Blond’.

In 2021, Chiba retired his moniker and started to go by his real name. Earlier this year, he released his first song in three years – ‘Team Tomodachi’ – which went viral online. It was remixed by several artists such as Duke Deuce, ¥ellow Bucks, Jin Dogg, Bun B, Watson, and more.

Earlier this month, Megan Thee Stallion was accused of using bots to boost her streaming numbers after Spotify removed 30million streams from ‘Megan’ – repositioning the album at Number 30 on the Global Spotify chart.
