Yungblud and The Offspring's Dexter Holland

Yungblud joined The Offspring on stage in Switzerland on Friday (August 16) for a version of ‘Self Esteem’ – check out footage below.

The show took place at the Open Air Festival in Gampel and saw the Californian band play a set packed with their biggest songs, including ‘Come Out and Play’, ‘Why Don’t You Get a Job?’ and ‘Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)’.

During the encore, Yungblud joined them for a rendition of ‘Self Esteem’, from the band’s 1994 album ‘Smash’. Posting on Instagram after the show, Yungblud quoted the song’s lyrics, writing: “That’s okay man, cause I like the abuse,” alongside footage of him standing among the crowd.

Watch below:

The Offspring played:

‘Self Esteem’ (with Yungblud)

It comes just days after Yungblud made a brief cameo at the Sex Pistols’ and Frank Carter’s first Bush Hall show earlier this week. During a rendition of the 1977 classic track ‘God Save The Queen’, which also saw Carter switch up the lyrics to “God save the King”, Yungblud was called up onstage for a few seconds after he was seen crowdsurfing to the front of the venue.

In other Yungblud news, he teased this week his next album would be released in early 2025 during an appearance on The Osbournes podcast.

“The record we’re making at the minute is probably the closest to a rock opera we’ve ever done,” he said. “So it’s made to be played start-to-finish, which is a really cool thing to do.”

When asked when it was due out, he replied: “Probably early next year, I would say. It’s a fucking big idea, so I want to get it right. I don’t want a shit rock opera. You’ve got to fucking think big, it’s going to be cool.”

The musician’s latest single, ‘Breakdown’ – which arrived in June – is expected to be part of the upcoming album. The Britpop flavours on ‘Breakdown’ were first hinted at in NME’s interview with Yungblud back in March, when he described his next album as being made in “the North”, and representing “the light”.

“I’m 27 next and for a character like me it’s either death or rebirth,” he said. “This point has been amazing up to now. I’ll never lose what it’s about in terms of Yungblud and the soul of it – but musically, this next album is something I’ve been working on for two years and it’s a fucking adventure. It’s a full concept that you can play from start to finish.”

“It’s all about getting through it; it’s positive. It’s that thing in your stomach when you listen to Oasis, or The Verve, or Bowie, or Suede, or Madonna. It makes me feel like I can get up today. It makes me feel like I’m invincible and that I can do anything – that’s what this new album sounds like,” he explained.

He went on to say that other influences included The Stone Roses and Amy Winehouse and everything else that has “done work on my soul”.

As for The Offspring, their new album ‘Supercharged’ is coming out on October 11 via Concord, and will include the singles ‘Make It All Right’ and ‘Light It Up’.
