wi ha-joon squid game season two

Breakout Squid Game star Wi Ha-joon has teased his role in the upcoming second season of the hit Netflix K-drama.

Wi Ha-joon starred in the first season of Squid Game as Hwang Jun-ho, a police officer who goes undercover to find his missing brother. The actor’s return for the show’s second season was confirmed in June 2023, when the streamer announced the castings of K-pop idols T.O.P and Jo Yu-ri.

In a new interview with The Korea Times, Wi teased the return of Hwang for season two of Squid Game. “My character has his own story in here, so I think season two will be even more interesting, allowing his character to develop a little deeper,” he said.

The actor also spoke about how he believes season two “will definitely be more enjoyable than season one”. He added: “For starters, more unique and interesting characters have been added. And all the cast members are such excellent actors carrying out their part so well.”

Earlier this year, Squid Game star Lee Jung-jae shared when viewers can expect to watch season two of the hit K-drama, telling Business Insider via an interpreter that it “will be released in December”. However, Netflix have reportedly not confirmed this, nor have they shared an official release date.

Meanwhile, David Fincher has reportedly been working on a remake of Squid Game for around two years. According to The Playlist, Fincher first has hired writer Dennis Kelly for the project. Kelly has notably worked on films like Matilda The Musical and TV shows like Utopia and The Third Day.
