It was recently revealed that Xbox will be changing the pricing on its Game Pass subscription service for new players, as well as introducing a tier that doesn’t come with two of the best benefits, and players aren’t happy.

Game Pass Ultimate is going up from £12.99 per month to £14.99 per month in the UK, or £49.99 to £54.99 per year. The PC Game Pass is also rising from £7.99 per month to £9.99 per month. A new lowerer tier has also been introduced, but this won’t give players access to day one Game Pass launches or cloud gaming. Players have taken to Twitter and Reddit to share their discontent.

“As if everything else wasn’t already expensive. Can’t do anything without being robbed,” one person wrote on Twitter. “Of course they’d do this before Black Ops 6 comes out,” another user wrote, noting the timing of this price increase.

This is espeically egregious as Microsoft had previously stated it wouldn’t raise the price of Game Pass because of its Activision Blizzard King purchase. While there’s no way to prove this price increase is because of that, the timing has certainly rubbed people the wrong way.

Over on Reddit, one person wrote, “yeah not subbing to this service anytime soon.” The price increases are just for newcomers to the subscription, and it seems to be putting off potential subscribers.

Another person has already figured out a way to game the system, writing “Honestly doesn’t matter to me, I’ll drop down a tier, and when a game I want to play day 1, like gears e day drops, I’ll go up to the expensive tier just to play it.”

“Just another service ruined by corporate greed. Time to cancel all this shit and stick to single player backlog,” wrote another unsatisfied customer.

In other news, legendary Elden Ring player Let Me Solo Her is now helping weak tarnished defeat the DLC’s toughest boss.
