Ben potter

YouTuber Ben Potter has died at the age of 40, following what his wife has described as an “unfortunate accident”.

Nathalie Potter made a statement on the Youtube personality’s X page, paying tribute to her partner and revealing that he died on June 8.

Potter had a successful YouTube channel called Comicstorian, where he posted videos about various comic series to his three million subscribers. He was known for streaming games, playing against members of the community, and narrating comics. The last video on his channel, titled ‘Why DC’s Reboots Beat Marvel’, was uploaded three days ago.

She addressed his fans in the statement, saying: “To many of you, he was Comicstorian, voicing stories from across multiple different mediums.”

“To his loved ones, he was one of the best and most supportive individuals anyone could ask for,” she continued. “As a husband, a son, a brother, a friend, or even just a stranger, Ben was loving and genuine.”

She also spoke about his tendencies to listen, “make time for his loved ones” and “make everyone laugh”.

Describing him as “our rock” she continued her tribute and asked for privacy from his fans: “He was my world and I need time to be with friends and family. I have so many things I need to figure out but firstly, I need to grieve.”

“I ask that you respect my privacy as well as everyone else’s. Right now my priority is preserving everything he’s build and I don’t have any plans beyond that.”

Nathalie again addressed Ben’s online presence, calling his channel “one of his greatest accomplishments”. She explained: “Ben spent over 10 years spreading his love and appreciation for his hobbies. It was through his love of exciting stories and well written characters that got him started on YouTube.”

She explained how she, along with his team of colleagues, aims “to honour him by continuing to tell great stories by great people, as well as to keep the memory of our very own superhero alive.”

She concluded her heartfelt tribute by sharing: “We supported each other on everything we wanted to do and I’m not about to stop now.”

Along with a weekly podcast, Ben had several channels, including a gaming channel and one dedicated to various Japanese manga series, called Mangastorian. His main channel, Comicstorian, currently has more than 3.9K videos.

Fans of Ben’s channel have responded to Nathalie’s post, expressing their shock and sympathy. Fellow YouTube personality HeavySpoilers wrote: “Incredibly heart breaking, Comicstorian was an absolutely incredible YouTuber that pioneered so much and got so many people into reading comics. Devastating news. Rest in peace.”

Another wrote: “Oh my god…. this guy literally made my childhood..”.
