Yungblud has teased that his next album will release in early 2025 â find out what he had to say about the upcoming record below.
In a new chat with The Osbournes’ Kelly and Sharon, the musician spoke about what he has planned for next year. He used the opportunity to hype up the record, which he revealed to NME earlier this year would be a Britpop-inspired concept album.
He expanded on the idea with The Osbournes, telling them: “The record we’re making at the minute is probably the closest to a rock opera we’ve ever done. So it’s made to be played start-to-finish, which is a really cool thing to do.”
“The opening song’s nine-minutes,” he added, before Sharon Osbourne asked when it’s due out. He replied: “Probably early next year, I would say. It’s a fucking big idea, so I want to get it right. I don’t want a shit rock opera. You’ve got to fucking think big, it’s going to be cool.”
The musician’s latest single, ‘Breakdown’ â which arrived in June â is expected to be part of the upcoming album. The Britpop flavours on âBreakdownâ were first hinted at in NMEâs interview with Yungblud back in March, when he described his next album as being made in âthe Northâ, and representing âthe lightâ.
âIâm 27 next and for a character like me itâs either death or rebirth,â he said. âThis point has been amazing up to now. Iâll never lose what itâs about in terms of Yungblud and the soul of it â but musically, this next album is something Iâve been working on for two years and itâs a fucking adventure. Itâs a full concept that you can play from start to finish.â
âItâs all about getting through it; itâs positive. Itâs that thing in your stomach when you listen to Oasis, or The Verve, or Bowie, or Suede, or Madonna. It makes me feel like I can get up today. It makes me feel like Iâm invincible and that I can do anything â thatâs what this new album sounds like,â he explained.
He went on to say that other influences included The Stone Roses and Amy Winehouse and everything else that has âdone work on my soulâ.
âItâll be a great âUrban Hymnsâ or âScreamadelicaâ,â he added. âI know the old dudes are going to leather me in the comments for that but I donât give a fuck because Iâm going to go there. If you listen to it, then itâs that from a new perspective.â
Most recently, Yungblud made a brief cameo at the Sex Pistols’ and Frank Carter’s first Bush Hall show earlier this week. During a rendition of the 1977 classic track âGod Save The Queenâ, which also saw Carter switch up the lyrics to âGod save the King”, Yungblud was called up onstage for a few seconds after he was seen crowdsurfing to the front of the venue.
The post Yungblud says his new album will be out in early 2025, and has a nine-minute opening track appeared first on NME.
