Zico has revealed that BLACKPINK‘s Jennie has “so many” unreleased solo songs, following their recent collaboration ‘Spot!’.
Zico and BLACKPINK’s Jennie recently released their joint single ‘Spot!’. The song was the former’s first release since his 2022 mini-album ‘Grown Ass Kid’. As for Jennie, she previously released the song ‘Slow Motion’ with Brockhampton‘s Matt Champion under her own label Odd Atelier.
In a new interview with Billboard, where Zico spoke more about ‘Spot!’, the South Korean musician revealed that he had “the chance to peek at Jennie’s to-be-released solo track demos”, adding that there were “so many good ones”.
“Everything about her is charming. From vocals and visuals to acting, as well as her sense of professionalism in bringing the song to fruition – it’s all these things combined,” he said of Jennie. “But personally, I think it was her professionalism.”
The BLOCK B member also touched on how it was like filming the music video for ‘Spot!’, saying that it “felt a bit awkward and funny” at first, but that these “candid moments” were eventually recorded for the video to create a “natural result”.
Elsewhere in the interview, Zico also explained how “a new chapter has opened up for me as a musician” following the success of ‘Spot!’. “The song’s reach to Billboard, beyond Korea, fills me with immense gratitude,” he added.
Zico also previously revealed that ‘Spot!’ was “crafted specifically” for BLACKPINK‘s Jennie, adding that he had made “five other options” for Jennie to choose from. “If there was only one option, it might not capture her interest, you know,” he added.
