Alan Wake 2

To celebrate the 14th anniversary of Alan Wake, Remedy Entertainment has shared the official soundtrack to Alan Wake 2.

The original Alan Wake was released May 14, 2010 with Remedy Entertainment releasing a critically acclaimed sequel at the end of October 2023.

Yesterday (May 14), the company released the official soundtrack to Alan Wake 2 on streaming and digital service platforms. The 35 tracks “perfectly capture the emotion, tension and mystery of the game’s story.”

Speaking about the soundtrack, composer Petri Alanko said: “Working on Alan Wake 2 was like coming home, comparable to meeting old friends after so many years, seeing everything had changed a bit – and that longing feeling had its place among the building blocks of Alan Wake 2’s soundtrack.”

“From a composer’s point of view, the soundtrack has no filler, with each musical cue emphasising a certain sequence of events that fans have experienced on screen. I hope the result is as pleasing to you as it is to myself. To me, be it a movie or a video game soundtrack, it should work as an entity in and of itself.”

The soundtrack also features four songs performed by Poe, written by Alan Wake 2’s creative director Sam Lake.

Speaking to NME earlier this year about the soundtrack, Alanko said: “What matters is: does the music speak to you, does it move you? Everything else is fucking pointless nagging. A great score is a great score.”

Earlier this year, Remedy confirmed it plans to “expand and grow” the Alan Wake franchise, alongside Control which exists in a shared universe named the Remedy Connected Universe. The studio also gave an update on the Max Payne 1 & 2 remake, with CEO Tero Virtala calling it a “major new game with great potential, enabled by a similar development budget as Alan Wake 2.”

In other news, Dead By Daylight shared an anniversary stream, confirming a brand new roguelite spin-off and collaborations with Dungeons & Dragons and Castlevania.
