Nintendo has released a brand new system update for the original Nintendo 3DS, almost nine months after its previous.
As spotted by VGC, Version 11.15.0-47 is currently available to download for all 3DS consoles in all regions, and according to the patch notes that have been translated, it brings “improvements to system stability and usability”.
Dataminer OatmealDome investigated the update and shared their thoughts on Twitter saying that the official Japanese patch notes state “stability” as its main update.
“It appears to update the Internet Browser (possibly fixing an exploit?) and recovery mode’s SSL system component,” OatmealDome said.

This is the first system update for the Nintendo 3DS in almost nine months with the last one being released November 16, 2020.
In September 2020, Nintendo officially discontinued production of the 3DS, nine years after the handheld hit markets.
Last month, the company announced that it also plans to stop card payments on the 3DS and Wii U eShops from January 22, 2022.
However, further details indicate that available payments will still include prepaid cards, debit or credit cards through the Nintendo website, as well as adding balance to Nintendo accounts through the Switch eShop.
Additionally, recent rumours suggest that Nintendo will also be phasing out 3DS and Wii U eShop games entirely.
A source claims to have received a memo detailing the end of submissions for the console eShops with the alleged deadline being April 1, 2022.
Meanwhile, Valve’s Steam Deck apparently isn’t trying to compete with the Nintendo Switch.
