Barbie and Wednesday Addams are among the most popular Halloween costumes on TikTok in 2023, according to a new study.
In a list compiled by BonusInsider using search data across Google and TikTok, Barbie came out on top as the most popular costume for women with 48.6 per cent search popularity.
This was followed by Wednesday Addams with 23.26 per cent, with others in the top five including Doja Cat Demon, The Little Mermaid and M3GAN.
For men, Ken was the most searched for Halloween costume with 51.4 per cent, followed by Robert J. Oppenheimer with 18.09 per cent.
Others in the top five include The Mandalorian, Super Mario and Donald Trump.
Barbie has become the highest-grossing movie of the year worldwide, beating The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Oppenheimer and Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3. It also became the highest-grossing film in Warner Bros. history and the highest-grossing film ever for a female director.
The success of Greta Gerwig’s film recently inspired a parody on Saturday Night Live featuring Pete Davidson, which reworked the Ryan Gosling track ‘I’m Just Ken’.
In a four-star review of the film, NME wrote: “What follows is a nuanced, rose-tinted comedy adventure, set to a stonking pop soundtrack featuring Lizzo and Billie Eilish, that somehow lives up to the immense hype. To borrow a pun from Ken’s coolest jacket (out of a long lineup), Barbie is more than ‘kenough’.”
